Live at Lakeview Residency Performances

For the first time in the history of the series, two acts have been offered residency performances in order to highlight some of the local talent in a different way.

This summer you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy multiple performances from Porterhaus and Patrick Walsh. Let’s take some time to get to know each of our resident local artists!

Porterhaus

From the shadow of the Teton mountain range, to the shores of Lake Tahoe. PorterHaus is a western roots rock band, made up of 3 Brothers. PorterHaus combines the harmonious style of their old west upbringing with the irie vibes of California. They’re often joined on stage by another local artist, Will Eichelberger, who’s flute skills will knock your socks right off.

Along with their original songs PorterHaus has a set filled with mash-ups and covers with everything from Beastie Boys, Lady Gaga, Dirty Heads, Waylon Jennings, to The Beatles. Basically, just a party-rock bundle of everything new and old that you didn’t know you wanted to hear.

You can catch Porterhaus opening sets this summer on June 29th with Lantz Lazwell & The Good Vibe Tribe, on July 20th with Wolf Jett and August 17th with Coast Tribe!

Patrick Walsh

El Dorado County singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Walsh brings a fresh sound from a world of no genres. He was born and raised in the gold rush towns of Northern California and often incorporates that local history and experiences into his music.

A popular artist who can be found performing three residency shows on the Live at Lakeview stage this summer, switches things up from bluegrass to jazz with a surprising reggae island vibe mixed in during various shows. His natural tendency for musical diversity is rooted in a lifetime of playing multiple musical instruments including piano, trumpet, guitar and harmonica.

He’s most well known in the area for performing Americana-inspired acoustic guitar instrumentals rather than singing and performing as a one-man band. Walsh shared with the Sacramento Magazine in a recent interview that his unique approach to music has been deliberate from the start, “ As soon as I began performing and creating albums, I decided I didn’t want to be held to on genre. I like being spontaneous and hop styles from song to song during a performance.

“I try to set a mood and take people away on little journeys,” Walsh continues. “That’s partly why I like instrumental music so much. I’m very happy with the lyrics of my songs, but instrumentals allow listeners to think about whatever, and pay attention to the music as much as they want. I don’t like to make music that is too intrusive – just something that fits pleasantly into daily activities like driving, where you can just sort of daydream along with it.”

You can enjoy the start of your Thursdays and daydream along with Patrick Walsh’s tunes on July 6th with Red Dirt Ruckus, July 27th with Scott Pemberton O Theory and August 24th with Moody Cat

Live at Lakeview Remains on Hold Until Summer 2022

In response to the recent spike of active COVID-19 cases, Live at Lakeview producers continue to place events on hold, choosing to value the health + well-being of the community over profit.

The September 2nd show that producers were hopeful would be possible, has officially been cancelled. Originally scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 5, 2021, the popular Live at Lakeview Sumer Music Series will remain on hold until summer of 2022.

“In June, when we began planning for this season, we sincerely thought the worst of the pandemic was falling behind us. Now, watching this new wave, we realize we are still in the fight and must do our part to help prevent the spread,” states Rob Giustina Owner of On Course Events. “We appreciate the continued support of this community + look forward to coming back strong in 2022.”

Following many conversations with local health officials and leaders in our community, On Course Events released the following statement on August 3rd, canceling the majority of the season’s events.

“Given the current spike of active COVID-19 cases in our hospital, in our town + in our community, I feel it is in the best interest of health + wellbeing of our community, staff, friends + family to cancel the scheduled events for the month of August. As the leader of this company + the founder of Live at Lakeview, nothing comes harder to me than having to announce another round of event cancelations. I miss our community so badly and nobody wants to produce this event more than me. My team has worked diligently + so tirelessly to help this event season come to fruition, today’s announcement is heavy on the heart. Thanks for your support, Tahoe!”

Event Update – Series Postponed Until Summer of 2021

108604930_4086780478029801_8472611361246163964_o

Originally scheduled to begin on June 25, 2020, the music series is now on hold until summer of 2021. The City Council readdressed the special events directives for the remainder of summer in South Lake Tahoe at their July 14th meeting, where a motion was passed to continue the postponement of all special events until at least September 22, 2020.

“Unfortunately, it’s still not safe to have large gatherings at this time. The public health and overall safety of our community comes first.” states Rob Giustina, Owner of On Course Events, “We’d love nothing more than to provide free live music at Lakeview Commons for our community, but at this time we are officially suspending all planning and production of the 2020 season of Live at Lakeview to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We look forward to bringing free live music back to the beach in 2021.”

On Course Events aims to revive the Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series in 2021, however; it will require substantial support from local sponsors to come back from the loss of this season’s production. To get involved, stay connected or provide support please follow @LiveatLakeview on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

South Lake Tahoe Events Postponed – 2020 Season of Live at Lakeview Currently Unknown

All special events on City property through at least July 14 have been postponed, which includes the Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series.

Originally scheduled to begin on June 25, 2020, the upcoming season of Live at Lakeview is unknown.

“We want to continue to provide memorable experiences for our community with free live music at Lakeview Commons. However, the public health and overall safety of our community comes first.” states Rob Giustina, Owner of On Course Events “We remain committed to our community and as soon as State, County + City regulations permit, our team is ready to produce live concerts once again!”

As South Lake Tahoe starts to reopen with guidelines from California Governor Newsom for Phase 2, the directives toward special events were initially addressed at the May 12, 2020 City Council meeting. During that meeting, a motion was passed to cancel or postpone all special events on City property through July 14, 2020.

The potential for large events and gatherings in California throughout this summer is currently unknown. The South Lake Tahoe City Council will readdress potential for our community’s special events during their July 14th meeting.

On Course Events will release updates on the 2020 season of Live at Lakeview as soon as we receive them. Stay tuned and connected with @LiveatLakeview on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
